Le Clos

What is a ‘Clos’ in Champagne?
A ‘Clos’ is a vineyard plot bounded and surrounded by walls (or very dense hedges) high enough to prevent a rider on horseback from crossing over them. Historically, these enclosures demarcated and protected the vineyards, whilst preserving their unique character. In Champagne, these enclosed vineyards are particularly rare, with only a few dozen plots recorded.
Owning a Clos means preserving a unique wine-growing heritage and cultivating a plot of land whose boundaries define a distinct identity!
At a time when Champagne is often the result of blending grapes from different terroirs, the ‘Clos’ embodies a more plot-specific approach, where the site itself takes centre stage. We are fortunate to be amongst the owners of these rare ‘Clos’ in Champagne, with the Clos de la Terrière Brûlée, a unique site that we cultivate and promote with passion.
Le Clos de la Terrière Brûlée, at the heart of our family history
Situated at the heart of our family estate, the Clos de la Terrière Brûlée holds a very special place in our lives. Much more than just a vineyard plot, it is part of our everyday life. Covering an area of 12 ares and 22 centiares, it is a place unlike any other, shaped by its history. Its sandy, highly calcareous soil is home to Pinot Meunier vines planted in 1969 by our grandfather Jacques. Deeply rooted in the plot’s history, these vines give this place its unique character. The combination of these elements gives the Clos a strong sense of identity.

Surrounded by 45 cm-thick millstone walls, this plot enjoys a unique environment. By storing heat and influencing air circulation, the walls help to create a microclimate specific to the Clos. They also provide protection from the wind and can mitigate some of the effects of the cold and frost, depending on weather conditions.
This place, steeped in history, which we experience throughout the seasons, embodies a family heritage that we are committed to preserving and passing on…

The Clos vintage: an invitation to discover our history
Made exclusively from Pinot Meunier, this cuvée expresses the full character of our Clos and its sandy-limestone terroir. The grapes are vinified in new, lightly toasted Champagne oak barrels, without malolactic fermentation or cold stabilisation. This winemaking approach preserves the wine’s character and freshness, whilst allowing barrel ageing to impart micro-oxygenation, a smooth and refined texture, lovely briny notes and a delicious, spicy touch.
This cuvée’s character extends right through to its presentation box, designed as a genuine invitation to discover our world. The gate that adorns the box is reproduced exactly as it is, whilst the hand-drawn illustration of our vineyard captures its details and spirit.
This gift set serves as a gateway to this place so dear to us, as if we were stepping through its walls to enter the heart of our family history. The natural wood label echoes the wine’s ageing in oak barrels. Each piece has its own grain, making every bottle unique, just like a wine whose ageing reveals a distinctive character. The traditional string binding and the numbering of each bottle further emphasise this uniqueness, with every detail telling a little of our heritage.
The Art of Chords
Le Clos de la Terrière Brûlée invites you to enjoy a gastronomic experience where textures and flavours complement one another with subtlety.
The delicate flavour of the scallops, enhanced by the tangy notes of balsamic vinegar, complements the wine’s freshness and finesse. A smooth and velvety Jerusalem artichoke soup provides a delicious contrast to the salty flavour of the crispy Iberian ham.
Paired with truffled Bresse poultry, enhanced by a creamy vin jaune sauce, or roast veal with delicately caramelised juices, the wine reveals its full depth and smoothness.
Finally, the roasted pineapple, the warm aromas of mild spices and the richness of salted butter caramel combine to create a generous finish, balancing fruity freshness with indulgent sweetness.
